Art
For the art portion I created a can that had different symbols that homeless people would use to communicate between each other. I also included quotes about homelessness from famous people that have good meaning and that speak to many people. An example is "Being homeless is like living in a post-apocalypse world. You're on the out-skirts of society." That quote was created by Frank Dillane. The reason why the I chose the can was to symbolize hunger. The reason why the can is purple is because that is the color for homelessness awareness.
Social Studies
For social studies I created a mind map describing and explaining why it is harder for women to get back on their feet than men. It broke off from the main topics mental health, insurance, sexual and emotional abuse and addiction. The main topics in the mind map were, more women deal with sexual and emotional violence/assault than men, women are getting paid less then men are, the government has men more likely insured than women, mental illness has more victims that are women than men and more women have been statistically proven to be more addicted to drugs and/or alcohol then men. An example from one of the main topics is "thirteen percent of another sample of homeless women reported having been raped in the past 12 months, and half of these women were raped at least twice."

English
For the English portion I analyzed three poems that were written by homeless people and ended up writing my own. There were descriptive words in my poem that showed symbolism. Some were repeated, underlined, or bolded. An example from a line in my poem is, "Where is all of the support?"
The word "support" is bolded because it is important that everyone works together to make a change in one and many people's lives. There should not be a child going to bed hungry.
